South Bronx, NY- 1981
Its summertime and everyone is out. The local park is packed with men and women, young and old, all there to witness the birth of Hip Hop. Hosted by the Zulu Nation and pioneers Afrika Bambata these types of gatherings have become a ritual in the community. A place where kids of all ages can come together, not only to express their feelings and emotions, but also to show off their talents through music. The block parties had it all. From the Rock Steady Crew pop locking and head spinning to dj’s like Kool Herc and Grand Master Flash cutting and scratching records. But it wasn’t the break dancing, graffiti or dj’ing that caught the attention of one young aspiring artist. For him it was the crowd motivators that stood out from all entertainers. It was there where Shahid “Nevah” Green found his calling in life.

Born and raised in the South Bronx Nevah was surrounded by music from day one. In addition to growing up in the core of where Hip Hop music was originated, Nevah is also related to 2 major players responsible for the Hip Hop movement of the late 70’s. Nephew to Disco King and the first to ever scratch a record, Grand Wizard Theodore, Nevah’s roots run deep in his blood. At the age of 15 Nevah began writing and producing his own original songs. With a niche for originality and uniqueness, Nevah is true to himself. So much so the personality in his flow is like no other Hip Hop artist in the market today. Nevah’s music catalogue consists of a variety of songs inspired by all aspects of life. There isn’t any subject matter he doesn’t touch. Having lived it himself Nevah is no stranger to the trials and tribulations young men must face coming up in the ghetto. His soul is felt on tracks of concern, guilt or remorse. His passion heard on beats with street warrior sound. His sense of humor, party drive and playboy status with the ladies can come out on any given record.

Nevah has been extremely busy these days. His hunger and work ethic is backed up by his consistent grind. Whether it’s putting in countless hours in the studio or performing on stage, Nevah is always on his clock work. Since linking with the independent based I&S Group, Nevah, himself has launched his own label called Joseph Hall Records, named after the building he grew up in. Under their collaboration Nevah has released 3 mix tapes including the underground classic hit “The Nevah Ending Story”.  He is currently working on his 4th installment “The City Life” along with his original debut album entitled “Welcome to Nevahland”.

In addition to his studio stripes, Nevah has appeared in numerous New York City showcases, taking 1st place in the famous Faces in the Crowd Talent Showcase. Building on a French connection in France, Nevah recently traveled across seas for a month to record and perform at a concert in Paris headlined by the well known underground artist Jock’R.  Nevah and Jock’R have since been developing if not the 1st English/French Hip Hop albums. Nevah as well have taken a Hip Hop tour throughout Japan, Africa, and the United Kingdom.  A man on fire, Nevah’s momentum and drive is a force to be reckoned with. He knows exactly what it takes to leave a lasting imprint in this game and is ready to go all out. Nevah say Nevah!!   Nevah, aka Young London emphasizes that “Nevah came up out my respect for hip hop and the culture, so I will nevah disrespect this music; I will nevah play it safe when creating music and I will nevah give the people something that isn’t real to me or good enough to release to the masses.”
