F-MOS - July 2009 - Hip Hop

Listen: “Yeah Yeah”www.myspace.com/FMOS www.FMOSmusic.com www.twitter.com/FMOS If you’re listening...if you’re REALLY listening, then take a step into Harlem, NY, a community that has produced some of Hip Hop’s most successful artists. A place that Hip Hop artist F-MOS, also known as the Better Pen calls his home. Growing up, F-MOS caught his spark in street battles across New York City. A star athlete in high school, F-MOS put his basketball career behind him to enroll in Fordham University on an academic scholarship, the summer of 1998. However, it was during that summer, filled with street battle accolades and long studio sessions that would change his life and pave a new path for him. “I like to say after that summer I spent four years learning and four years waiting”, states MOS. In late 2001, F-MOS caught the attention of the newly formed camp of Krucial Keys, spearheaded by now Grammy-award winning singer, Alicia Keys. After graduating from Fordham in 2002, F-MOS inked a production/management deal with Alicia and Krucial Keys to the dismay of a number of interested major labels. It was during that time that F-MOS completed his anticipated mini-album, “The Better Pen”, but also made the decision to part ways with the production company. In 2004, F-MOS formed Street Heat Incorporated, a New York based onestop independent music company composed of Hip Hop and R&B music, marketing, and promotions. MOS chimes in, “This movement is to prove that I’m so much more than an artist with a demo!” Currently, F-MOS’ main project is titled Bringing New York Back! (BNYB). With his focus being to preserve the heat of NY Hip Hop culture, Mos states, “This project was sparked by the need to bring back classic East Coast music and snatch back the New York swagger”. Culminating all the elements of Hip Hop in NY from production, to lyrics, to artist, BNYB promises to rep where Hip Hop started…as well as where it’s headed. Once again being heavily courted by industry insiders and underground icons alike, F-MOS is the rap chauffeur poised to drive Hip Hop. If you’re REALLY listening….the movement is here and his name is F-MOS!

Sadiiya Rock - July 2009 - R&B

Sadiiya Rock (Noun) Sah-d-yah: whimsical, talented and young spirited; one who loves expressing themselves through song. Coming fresh off her win on BET’s 106 & Park “WOW”, the journey has been a coming of age process for this 23-year-old Brooklynite. She began cultivating her voice at a very early age with vocal coaching from “Uncle Ray” (Raymond Rock), a member of the 1970/80's Band “Crown Heights Affair”. Talent runs in the Rock family, from her cousins comedian/actor Chris Rock to comedian Tony Rock. Sadiiya Rock is applying the same focused driven work ethic to her own career. Sadiiya attended the famed “Tada”, a theatrical youth ensemble in New York while simultaneously attending acting workshops with Casting Director, the Late Maria Greco. Her innate sense of fashion design landed her an internship with BET’s (Black Entertainment Television) Wardrobe Department in New York. There she met veteran sound designer/mixer Charlie (C.J.) Jones, CEO of the newly developed Urban Melodic Entertainment (UME). At CBS, C.J. oversees audio for BET's 106 & Park, Inside Edition and Guiding Light. His mixing credits also include Showtime at the Apollo, Live at Gotham, Laffapolooza with Jamie Foxx, Spectacle with Elvis Costello and The Chris Rock Show. Jones recently won the 2008 Emmy Award for “Outstanding Achievement in Mixing” for CBS Daytime Drama “Guiding Light.” Throughout the years Sadiiya’s has trained with Grammy Award winner and veteran vocal coach Gwen Conley and teamed with choreographer Violet Galagarza (KR3T’s, Broadway Dance). Working in the background, stylist by day, performer by night, Sadiiya had a court-side view to artists on their rise to the top; from Alicia Keys to Keyshia Cole, from Mario to Lloyd; she was taking notes. Rock was starting to perform at prominent spots like the Village Underground, Joe’s Pub or book gigs like “BK Fashion Weekend,” Atlantis Music Conference” and recently Hot97’s “Blaze The Stage”. She’s paying her dues and building a name for herself. Sadiiya Rock has created a unique lane. She is using her song writing coupled with an urban fused sonic canvass to convey her message. “Personally, at a time when there is so much fear in the world, I want people to believe they can be fearless through my music”. She is a new organic funky presence in the world of urban/pop music. This is reflected in her influences, from Aretha Franklin to Gwen Stefani to Earth, Wind and Fire to Guns & Roses. For her pop debut single “Flatline” she collaborated with noted German producer/songwriter Marcus Brosch who’s been producing artists from Europe’s version of American Idol and has done remixes for Brandy, Lionel Richie and Enrique Iglesias. “Lovalicious” her urban debut single was produced by New Orleans producer Blair Lavigne and UME head, C.J. Both singles are currently available on all digital distribution outlets including iTunes, Rhapsody.com and amazon.com.
