CHAZ-O - MARCH 2010 - R&B
BIO:
ChazO was born, Chaz Dortch, in January, 1987 in Harlem, New York, into a large family of seven. By the fourth grade, ChazO discovered he possessed an interest in music, while listening to the records his mother played, that she referred to as the “golden oldies”.
With the encouragement of his family, he was led to an audition for the Boys Choir of Harlem. As he grew older and grew more passionate for his vocals, he was able to utilize the Boys Choir to gain respect for his talents. Those achievements include touring with Boys Choir to many locations including the Apollo Theatre and Puerto Rico. This was the stepping stone into his music career.
By the age of 14, ChazO started writing his own lyrics and gaining a deeper meaning to become significant in the industry. Leaving behind the Boys Choir, he discovered new means to express his ability in songwriting and performance. This discovery brought him much success by winning talent shows in New York City competing with other rising stars. He has had many great musical influences such as Donny Hathaway, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, and Michael Jackson.
ChazO collaborated with “Metta”, The More Then Music Records’ artist on the single “We can do Something”. This welcomed a larger fan base making him a local rising New York star.
Now 21, ChazO’s ability to utilize lyrics with his own distinct style has prepared him to enter the next level, becoming the most exceptional singer and songwriter of his generation.
