In order to detach from her stressful reality, Algarin found her personal escape from listening to music- such as Luther Vandross, Whitney Houston and Marvin Gaye. During these personal moments, D.STEPHENS discovered his love for music and was motivated to become a successful recording artist, vowing to provide for his mother. His newfound talent acted as a catalyst for his project, entitled “Glory Road Part 1.” His reasoning behind the title was it symbolized his personal journey from rags to riches, exposing it to the public. In February 2009, he released his first project with only 200 copies. Positive feedback led to his fan base growing, also receiving applause for his song making ability. As opposed to other artists who may have projects in the making, Stephens’ claim to game has just begun. He has already showcased his melodic choruses and incredible lyricism all over New York City, including the Times Square Art center, Bowery Poetry Club, the Pyramid Club and a number of lounges and clubs in the city. In addition, he has excelled and conquered contests such as “The Hot 16” at Nexus Lounge and the “Rock the Mic” at the Playa’s Club. Stephens was also chosen by Vibe Magazine to be one of the two finalists for the “Eminem No.1 Stan” contest where he was flown out to Detroit to open up for Eminem’s album release of “Relapse” at Sound Board, MotorCity Casino Hotel. Stephens since then has been interviewed by Angela Yee on shade 45 Radio. Looking to succeed even further, his goals for the near future include a state-to-state college tour for the release of his next project “Glory Road Pt. 2,” and also to solidify himself as one of the premier up and coming rappers in the country, his eyes are set on the cover of XXL magazine’s “2011 Freshman Class of The Year” cover. CONTACT INFO:

BIO:

Angeline is a seasoned vocalist that has been singing since the age of six years old. She grew up listening to the influences of Chaka Khan, Stephanie Mills, Whitney Houston, and Anita Baker. Her vocal ability was later influenced by artists like Mariah Carey and Yolonda Adams. Her skills include having a natural ear for multiple harmonies, melodic rifts, and she currently possesses a two and a half octave range.

Angeline started writing poems and lyrics by age eight. She entered a contest in elementary school that inspired her to continue to perfect her passion for blending the words that were her intimate thoughts, with the melodies that floated in her head. She later found her niche in writing ballads and mid-tempo pieces in the style of jazz, R&B, or Neo-Soul. In the past she has been featured on a few local hip-hop artists’ tracks to add some lyrical and vocal depth. Angeline began studio recording at the age of twelve, and over the years has worked on multiple singles with indie record labels.

Performing has become the ultimate experience for this petite songstress. She performed at Aframfest in Norfolk, VA as part of a featured group in 2001, where she was the lead female voice in front of an all male group. The local performances during 2002 in North Carolina and Virginia, were a successful attempt to promote a project by Clearwater Recording. Angeline has also been a featured talent in 2005 at Jaivon’s cafe in Virginia Beach, VA at an event sponsored by Soundstage Recording Group. She has assisted other independent artists with backgrounds, and has been working on several projects with independent producers in VA and DC. She can be seen weekly as a featured artist of Romonta & Friends in Virginia Beach, VA at Mango’s Sports Bar.

In the future, Angeline would love to become a writer/arranger for the music industry. She also dreams of one day releasing an album featuring her unique style for the world to experience. For now, she is just happy to share GOD’s gift of music with whoever will listen.

Some of Angeline’s past work can be found on www.myspace.com/angelineneosoul or Face Book Angeline (become a fan!!).

The Marx Man Bio:

Marc was born in Jamaica Queens to conservative Christian parents. Hip hop was not allowed in the house, but was secretly heard by the young performer who began to develop a profound and genuine appreciation for many different genres of expression. By the age of 17 he was a published writer, beating out thousands of young prodigies to win a page within The Anthology of Young Christian Writers. By now he had realized his talent, however it wasn’t until his enrollment in Hunter College in 1999 that his passion was fully realized. On his first trip to the Nuyorican Poet’s Cafe in the lower east side of Manhattan, Marc was floored by the outspoken display of dramatic poetry. He has never seen poetry displayed with such originality and skill. It was raw. It was unrefined purity. It was him.

Developing his own identity, theMarXman chose a stage name suitable for his persona and message. He then collaborated with his schoolmates to form The Cataclysm, a 5 man team of hip hop artists, poets, and producers. This group facilitated a series of open mic events in Hunter College and ran a successful weekly show in the South Bronx. After the first and only group album The Cataclysm Presents: The Movement, the gentlemen underwent an intense performance regiment. Approaching every city school in NYC to colleges and universities all over the tri-state area, theMarXman left his mark on each stage he stepped upon.

Young MarXman began to pursue solo ventures as did his partners, and soon began making a name for himself on the performance scene. He went on to pursue theatre, and was featured in the off-broadway gem, The Truth about Heaven in 2002. He was a Nuyorican Grand Slam Finalist for 3 years in a row, and performed with the notorious slam team when needed. He was the youngest poet featured on the first season of BET’s Lyric Cafe, a nationally syndicated program displaying the hottest performers in select cities across the country. He used this momentum to rock Planet Holywood in NYC, The Apollo Theatre, The Bowery Poetry Club, The WaMu Theatre in Madison Square Garden, CBGB’s, and dozens of other venues in many other states.

He is currently developing a new sound in a massive attempt to attain a new level of artistic eXpression. He has honed his writing skills to learn the rudiments of songwriting and arrangment. His first solo LP, The NeXt Stage will be release in 2010, fusing hip hop with his smooth r&b and gritty spoken word background. He is a true artist. He is a genuine performer. He is theMarXman, and music is his

DJ has been writing songs since he can remember, but got a heavy dose of inspiration after seeing the late great Michael Jackson live in concert. DJ was only 6 at this time, but the seed was planted after that event. A dream was born within him, and as many children and adults alike did, he began mimicking every move and song of MJ’s. MJ’s music was not just an inspiration to DJ, but also was an escape from some of the turmoil going on within his family during his adolescent years.

Driven to not only be a successful artist and musician, DJ also wants to reach people around the world with his music on a deeper level as MJ did so well.

Now fully knowing the gifts he has been blessed with, DJ lives daily by the quote “Discover your uniqueness, then discipline yourself to develop it”. DJ works diligently to hone and master his gifts of writing, singing, and producing, as he well knows talent alone is never enough.

DJ is truly a student of the craft; studying different genres of music in order to create a versatile style of music he calls his own. With a quiet, humble, and professional demeanor, DJ carries himself with the firm desire to be a prominent new artist who brings an element of realness in his music.

The future in the eyes of DJ is limitless because of his stead fast work ethic, combined with the “gifts” he possesses. “The day you stop learning, is the day you stop growing”, is a phrase that gives DJ the passion to learn more about himself and his craft daily.

First, we have the twins, Starr and Sha’tarr who are 17 years old and last, but not least we have Tasia who is 16 years old. The three sisters are from Brooklyn, NY, where they call the Coney Island section their home. Their mixture of R&B, with a touch of Hip-Hop blends smoothly with their gospel background. I am sure many would agree their sound is timeless. The ladies may be young by the industry’s standards, but they are very experienced. They have performed in many venues in New York City, like BET’S 106&PARK, HARLEM WEEK AT 135TH STREET, THE SUGAR BAR, BB KING’S, APOLLO, THE WINGATE FIELD AND BET’S BLAZE DA’ STAGE AT NEW YORK UNIVERSITY. Simplicity also performed throughout South Carolina and Texas. Starr, Sha’tarr and Tasia are inspired by all of the young artists of today, and have been influenced by the SUPREMES, ARETHA FRANKLIN, PATTI LABELLE, DESTINY’S CHILD, MARY J. BLIGE AND MARIAH CAREY to name a few. Their father, who is their manager, songwriter and biggest fan, has always been a major part of their career.

The concepts are above-grade and deep, yet hard and gritty like the streets. The LFL Project is a great representation of R.E.D.’s ability to form a well-balanced hip-hop group and infusing the synergy to an undisputed high!
