The Marx Man Bio:

Marc was born in Jamaica Queens to conservative Christian parents. Hip hop was not allowed in the house, but was secretly heard by the young performer who began to develop a profound and genuine appreciation for many different genres of expression. By the age of 17 he was a published writer, beating out thousands of young prodigies to win a page within The Anthology of Young Christian Writers. By now he had realized his talent, however it wasn’t until his enrollment in Hunter College in 1999 that his passion was fully realized. On his first trip to the Nuyorican Poet’s Cafe in the lower east side of Manhattan, Marc was floored by the outspoken display of dramatic poetry. He has never seen poetry displayed with such originality and skill. It was raw. It was unrefined purity. It was him.

Developing his own identity, theMarXman chose a stage name suitable for his persona and message. He then collaborated with his schoolmates to form The Cataclysm, a 5 man team of hip hop artists, poets, and producers. This group facilitated a series of open mic events in Hunter College and ran a successful weekly show in the South Bronx. After the first and only group album The Cataclysm Presents: The Movement, the gentlemen underwent an intense performance regiment. Approaching every city school in NYC to colleges and universities all over the tri-state area, theMarXman left his mark on each stage he stepped upon.

Young MarXman began to pursue solo ventures as did his partners, and soon began making a name for himself on the performance scene. He went on to pursue theatre, and was featured in the off-broadway gem, The Truth about Heaven in 2002. He was a Nuyorican Grand Slam Finalist for 3 years in a row, and performed with the notorious slam team when needed. He was the youngest poet featured on the first season of BET’s Lyric Cafe, a nationally syndicated program displaying the hottest performers in select cities across the country. He used this momentum to rock Planet Holywood in NYC, The Apollo Theatre, The Bowery Poetry Club, The WaMu Theatre in Madison Square Garden, CBGB’s, and dozens of other venues in many other states.

He is currently developing a new sound in a massive attempt to attain a new level of artistic eXpression. He has honed his writing skills to learn the rudiments of songwriting and arrangment. His first solo LP, The NeXt Stage will be release in 2010, fusing hip hop with his smooth r&b and gritty spoken word background. He is a true artist. He is a genuine performer. He is theMarXman, and music is his
